Thoughts of Obama from Bama

Week 79: 2010 Midterm Election

“We are the people there isn't any doubt
We are the people they still can't figure out
We are the people who love to sing
"Twist and Shout"
SHAKE IT UP BABY
We are the people our parents warned us about”

Jimmy Buffett, “We are the People our Parents Warned us About”

“We are the ones we've been waiting for. We are the change that we seek. We are the hope of those boys who have little; who've been told that they cannot have what they dream; that they cannot be what they imagine.
Yes they can."

"We are the hope of the father who goes to work before dawn and lies awake with doubts that tell him he cannot give his children the same opportunities that someone gave him.
Yes he can."

"We are the hope of the woman who hears that her city will not be rebuilt; that she cannot reclaim the life that was swept away in a terrible storm.
Yes she can."

"We are the hope of the future; the answer to the cynics who tell us our house must stand divided; that we cannot come together; that we cannot remake this world as it should be.”
Senator/Candidate Barack H. Obama

Barack Hussein Obama got himself elected President of these here United States of America by motivating and inspiring millions with his extraordinary public speaking skills emphasizing a message of hope and change that the Country bought hook, line and sinker. Our Great Orator of Empty Rhetoric-In-Chief has sure as hell knocked down expectations a few notches for the Midterm Election this November.

Instead of:

• “We are the hope; Yes we can; Yes they can; Yes he can; Yes she can; Yes I am the anointed one who can walk on water who will affect transformational change; Peace, Love, Bobby Sherman; Allah the Great, Allah the Benevolent”;

The call to arms for the Midterms:

• "We know you're still suffering, but things could have been worse."
• ." Do we really want to go back to W’s policies that drove the economy in the ditch in the first place”

If this is the best the Obama political hacks and Congressional Democrats have to offer they surely are setting themselves up or a serious whippin in the midterm elections. For starters, these slogans are just downright boring, confusing and about as dull as VP Biden’s intellectual capacity. Secondly, the premise of both statements is misleading and factually inaccurate, standard operating procedure for the “Yes We Can Bankrupt Each and Every one of You” crowd.

Let’s take the first slogan - "We know you're still suffering, but things could have been worse."

Worst than:

1. Ten percent unemployment for the next year or so
2. Trillion dollar plus annual deficits for years to come
3. As we write this column the Obama fiscal policies pushing the National Debt over the thirteen trillion mark
4. Nationalized/Socialist takeovers of our Auto, Financial, and Healthcare industries with Energy, Education and the Internet currently in the Presidential cross hairs
5. Rampant corruption
6. The Country being run by a “Secret Shadow” government of Socialist, tax cheat Czars
7. And the worst offense all, justifiably being taken to the wood shed by the French for our out of control spending, unsustainable deficits and Socialist agenda. If this isn’t an impeachable offense it damn sure ought to be

As for their second slogan and strategy - " Do we really want to go back to W’s policies that drove the economy in the ditch in the first place” – we say not only yes but a big “Are you ready Alabama? Hell Yes!" Ain’t no never mind about it we’ll take W’s ditch over Barack’s cavernous sink hole every time.

Despite all the finger pointing and almost daily whining from 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue supported by a hyper partisan leftwing pointy headed media elite press corps Obama’s totally irresponsible, Socialist, and counterproductive failed fiscal policies makes the W Administration look like a bunch of financial geniuses. Consider the following:

• W got the 2001 Economic Growth and Recovery Tax Act passed in response to the recession he inherited from Slick Willie. It cut tax rates, increased the child tax credit, increased the standard deduction for married couples, and increased contribution caps for a variety of savings programs. The recession ended in November of 2001.
• After September 11 the economy grew at an anemic rate. The Jobs and Growth Tax Relief Reconciliation Act of 2003 goosed up the 2001 tax cut package and cut taxes again on dividends and capital gains.
• With W’s tax cuts the rich paid more in taxes in 2005 than any time in the prior 20 years. According to the Wall Street Journal with W’s tax cuts the richest one percent went from paying 25% of all income taxes in 1990 to 39% in 2005. The richest 5% went from paying 44% of all income taxes in 1990 to paying 60% of all income taxes in 2005.
• After the 2001 initial tax cuts, the annual growth rate went from 0.3% in 2001 to 2.5% in 2002. By 2004, GDP growth was the highest it had been in 20 years.
• Following the 2003 tax cuts, the unemployment rate fell to the lowest level since World War II.
• When W left office 145 million folks were employed, 8.9 million were looking and the unemployment rate was at 5.9%. 79 weeks into the Hope, Change and Believe gang’s reign of fiscal catastrophe we are down to 138.4 million working, 15.4 million poor pilgrims on the street and unemployment averaging 9.9% for the year
• W’s stimulative tax cuts and reasonable regulation policies helped increase total Federal revenues by 1 trillion dollars over eight years with income jumping from 3.7 to almost 4.8 trillion. Our current gang of financially challenged over educated Harvard boneheads have masterfully orchestrated a substantial dip in tax revenues while expenditures have exploded to totally irresponsible and unsustainable levels

Historically the party in power, especially the White House, take a beating like a red headed stepchild in a midterm election. The last Chief Executive to buck this trend was W in 2002.

Obama, Pelosi and Reid’s Socialist agenda; arrogance; incompetence; bend over and grab their ankles thank you sir may I have another foreign policy; has served as a catalyst in organizing a highly motivated, enthusiastic, majority coalition of conservatives, moderates and independents who adamantly oppose Comrade Obama’s Marxist Utopian dreams of grandeur for the good ole USA.

Their “Blame Bush” and “It could be worst” strategy is also a recipe for a political blood bath in November. When all is said and done a honest appraisal of W’s performance supports solid real gains in GDP, Jobs, tax revenue, and international respect, not popularity, respect.

And if W really did drive the economy into the ditch as the President has claimed, based on the economy’s performance during the first 79 weeks of the Obama Administration, it seems fair to say that the President and all of his financial advisors missed the ditch but pulled off a full-blown Thelma and Louise. Barack and Uncle Joe, punch drunk; giggling like school girls; throwing caution to the wind; and taking complete leave of rational thought and any semblance of fiscal sanity floored it and drove our economy right off the proverbial cliff and we continue in free fall today comparable to the President’s approval numbers.

As for their “It could be worse” strategy with all due respect Mr. President, ain’t no never mind about it, it just don’t get any worse than an American President with just cause being lectured; brow beat; taken to task; publically rebuked; and just downright told what for by a French President. To be lectured about fiscal responsibility by the French is truly a defining moment in the history of the American Presidency.

We certainly hope Mr. Obama will save us all from the humiliation and shame of an Impeachment trial in the Senate and look forward to his forthcoming resignation for cowardly and inexcusable pacifist conduct with our equally cowardly and inexcusable pacifist French allies.

I am, “American by Birth and Southern by the Grace of God”
